Paul and Luke Harwerth were two brothers from a small town in America, living seemingly ordinary lives. However, their upbringings were vastly different, and this divergence would eventually play a pivotal role in their understanding of their identities. Paul, the elder of the two brothers, grew up in a conservative household with his parents being strict adherents to traditional values. On the other hand, Luke, who was always the more free-spirited one, had a much more lenient upbringing, with parents who encouraged him to be true to himself.

As they navigated through their teenage years, Paul and Luke found themselves shifting uncomfortably in their own skin. They began questioning the roles they had been assigned, particularly when it came to their relationships with one another and with those around them. Luke, who had always harbored deep affection for Paul, struggled with expressing his true feelings, fearing rejection and loss of their close bond. Meanwhile, Paul was trying to reconcile his own emerging feelings, ensnared in the societal expectations placed upon him.

Shortly after moving from their hometown they were involved in a love affair which let them reignite their Christian upbringings in a very positive way by looking to move to rural Switzerland to locate a quiet more Christian community in which to live there.
