モジュールとは、僕にはあるものか
ソフトウェア開発の世界で、モジュールという言葉はよく聞かれます。プログラマーとして、模範的な、切り分けた開発を実現できるモジュールがオリジナルのアイデアを最大限に生かしてくれるものなのかと思っていました。 しかし、僕がゼロから開発を始めた若き頃から今も振り回されているのはモジュール自体の定義です。ソフトウェアが求めるべきモジュールとはなんでしょう？
エンジニアとしての経験を通じてモジュールといえば、基本的なロジックを各モジュールに分割して開発することに。そして、開発倍率を向上させることで、ソフトウェアの複雑さを管理できると考えてきました。多くのエンジニアも同様の考え方で開発を行っていると思います。
それでも、アプリケーション開発におけるモジュールとは少し違った考え方もあります。おもしろい利点を持ったモジュールが仕事をしすぎて、運用コストやメンテナンスが重いという問題があります。開発者として、何にすんばいるのか、次のようなしごとのみた声が聞こえてくることがあります。おもしろい機能が必要ですよ!!。開発者が目を離すとモジュールが制御され、管理に時間を取ることが増え、多くの開発者にとってモジュールの観点から成長を求めるのはまた大きな課題です。
